The depth in the discussion about intellectuals and their social function may be verifyed from the epistemologic debate that took place in the Movimento magazine, initiated with the Gaya’s articles (1994) and Taffarel and Escobar (1994). In the present study, this debate is analyzed in the light of important authors on the definition of intellectual, such as Mannheim (1982 and 1986) and, especially Gramsci (1966, 1978, 1987 and 1995), where we discussed the physical education intelectual together with the gramscianos concepts about the intellectual and the hegemony. To do that, the dialectical method was used, through Kosik’s concreteness concept (1995), in the search for the essence of the phenomenom based on the theoretical perpective of Goldmann (1967 and 1980).The analysis of the articles were added to interviews with the authors, besides the theoric referential. As a result we have the importance of the intelectual in the social and cultural development. These intellectuals even support the faculty in physical education, and influence, at the same time, the direction of the society on a hegemonic or counter-hegemonic perspective constructing such perspectives by trying to reach a consensus with the common sense. |
