This study was carried out in the first semester of 2002, with the street runners of the state of Sergipe. A field research was done with the objective of drawing the profile of flexibility of these athletes, using the flexitest by measuring the level of flexibility of their knee and hip articulations in relation to their position in the ranking; their BMI (Body Mass Index) and percentage of body fat The research was done with a sample of ten runners of the female sex , whose ages varied from 17 to 34 years of age ( 29,6± 5,76); heights varying from 1,48 to 1,66m (1,58 ± 0,06); weights from 41,5 to 66,3 kg (52,63 ± 7,36); BMI from 15,48 to 24,10kg/m2 ( 20,92 ± 2,24) and percentage of body fat varying from 10,0 to 26,5% (17,35 ± 4,92). Sixty percent of these athletes obtained an excellent result as to the flexibility of the knee ;eighty percent got an average result as to the extension of the knee ; fifty percent got a good result as to the flexibility of the hip and fifty percent obtained an excellent result as to the extension of the hip. To conclude, it is to be said that the level of flexibility of these athletes, in what regards the knee and hip articulations is above average, according to the flexitest. |
