In last decades, soccer has been through a constant evolution process as to the physical preparation of soccer players. At the same time, such requirements were brought to the process of preparing these athletes, which, in turn, requires much more control of performance indicators present in training and competition. Considering this training process, the present study tries to understand the concepts involving the control of soccer players performance, aiming specifically at the viability and specificity of tests involving the physical components of the sport. In order to clarify the proposed objective, 26 international and national references in indexed journals (searched in Capes website) and books registerd in the International Standard Book Number were analyzed. We found that the high financial cost, waste of time and similarity with sports gestures are factors that should be considered in the control of soccer players performance. In short, the present study points at two directions in face of the issues addressed: 1) the need to consider the indicators of control through the viability of implementing them, and 2) importance of sports specificity in the control of educational performance in soccer. |
