Capoeira as social sport - Abstract

One of the most effective forms of political-social are the sports and leisure, and capoeira is one of the most viable options for its features, history and peculiarities that make its socio-cultural context for this purpose. Alone or embedded in social projects, capoeira is a secondary activity that has been used effectively as a social-pedagogical tool. The aim of this paper was to analyze and discuss the use of capoeira as sport social intervention in poor communities of Rio de Janeiro. It contacted the capoeira, a practice to have one of a kind, mixed with historical heritage and socio-cultural, provides rich research opportunities and employment, among them, as a cultural proposal for the practice of social, making it a strong candidate for entry into the proposal for any project of social sports.
