Physical Education, Scouting and Civism - Abstract

This article is about an interpretation of the students of Physical Education presentation of the School Group Dr. Joaquim Assumpção photographs. That school was founded during the Augusto Simões Lopes' governmnt, mayor of the Pelotas City, by the Republican Party of Rio Grande do Sul, between 1924 and 1928. This school group has been built for being a standard school for the city and to compete with the two schools of the state of the same level, existind at the city. These images represent the school practices existing at the decade of 1920, showing the republican civilization intention present in the Physical Education classes, vicic celebrations and scouting. Altheugh, they are not official pictures, these images are impregnated from the republican government ideas of this time, especially, from the Simões Lopes' government.
