The concept of intellectual in Karl Mannheim and Antonio Gramsci - Abstract

The depth in the discussion about intellectuals and their social function may be verifyed in the present study. This debate is analyzed in the light of important authors on the definition of intellectual, such as Mannheim and, especially Gramsci, where we discussed the intelectual gramsciano. As a result we have the importance of the intelectual in the social and cultural development. These intellectuals even support the faculty in education, and influence, at the same time, the direction of the society.
