There are coefficients to estimate maximal strength (1RM) in strength training exercises, based on body mass (BM) and lean body mass (LBM). We can relate strength training and ginástica localizada resistance training (GL) due similar training variables. However, there is no data about coefficients in GL. The aim of this study was create coefficients related to BM and LBM to determinate 1RM values and estimate the number of repetitions performed with different 1RM percentages in different resistive exercises used in GL. Forty (40) woman (trained (13) and non-trained (27)) were submitted to body composition evaluation and 1RM test in the following exercises: bench press, squat, arm curl and hip extension. Posteriorly, they performed the higher number of repetitions in these exercises with different intensities (40, 60 and 80% 1RM). The results showed a relation between BM, LBM and maximal strength, making capable to use the coefficients to prescribe the selected exercises, with different percentages of 1RM. It was obtained the following coefficients in trained group, bench press (BM: 0,59 + 0,1, LBM: 0,73 + 0,06), arm curl (BM: 0,3 + 0,05, LBM: 0,38 + 0,05), squat (BM: 1,45 + 0,27, LBM: 1,86 + 0,3) and hip extension (BM: 0,45 + 0,07, LBM: 0,58 + 0,08); and to nontrained group: bench press (BM: 0,5 + 0,76, LBM: 0,67 + 0,1), arm curl (BM: 0,24 + 0,04, LBM: 0,32 + 0,06), squat (BM: 1,30 + 0,22, LBM: 1,7 + 0,28and hip extension (BM: 0,39 + 0,06, LBM: 0,52 + 0,08). The hip extension exercise showed a lower number of repetitions compared to other exercises at 40% 1RM and higher number, at 80% 1RM. |
