The following work intends to debate, from the history of education research’s point of view, the relationships betweeen the institutional-legal support for the Brazilian Physical Education from 1968 to 1984, and the apropriation of that support by the school teachers. From the hypothesis that these two dimensions were related, the current thesis in the historiography that the teachers would have been conformed in an one-sided way by the official policies becomes faded, related to a perspective of cultural dependece of the developed capitalist countries, specially the USA. As research source, it gives emphasis to the Revista Brasileira de Educação Física e Desportos, published by the Physical Education Division of MEC, the Physical Education Programs of Curitiba Hall from 1972 to 1983, and the speeches of active school teachers at Rede Municipal de Ensino of Curitba in those years. It comes to the conclusion that the current thesis of a cultural transplant disregards the simple experience able to apropriate the most different codes, when showing a tension between the tradition and the renovation of Brazilian Physical Education and between the teacher’s life story and professional story. Having the analysis on the field of school subjects history and getting the reference on the thought of Edward Palmer Thompson, for whom the dialogue between the being and the social conscience are builders of the experience, the work reafirms the current perspective in the historiography, and the reduction of Physical Education at schools to sports institution codes, but it capts the school teachers’active combine for the consolidation of that process. So, it shows how an adaptation between the ones who precognized the governamental policies and the Physical Education professionals needs was developed. By this way, the experience of the school teachers pointed to the rewording of Brazil Physical Education which could have been placed along the 80’s and 90’s.
